FAQ

Is my image uploaded anywhere?+

No. Both modes run entirely on your device — the AI model for photos downloads to your browser once (then it's cached), and the signature/document mode is plain pixel math with no model at all. The image never leaves your computer.

Which mode should I use for a signature?+

"Signature, logo, or document" — not the person mode. A signature isn't a person, so the AI photo model would correctly find nothing and return a blank result. The document mode instead detects your background color from the image's corners and keys it out, which is exactly the right tool for ink or a graphic on a plain background.

The signature/document mode left some background or removed part of my subject — what do I do?+

Adjust the sensitivity slider that appears after processing: raise it if background is still visible, lower it if part of the subject got cut away. It reprocesses instantly since there's no model involved.

What kinds of photos does the person mode work best on?+

Photos of people — portraits, selfies, headshots. It uses a single-purpose "selfie" segmentation model, not a general one, so results on objects, products, or animals will be weak or empty — use the other mode for those instead.

Why does the first photo take longer than the next one?+

Only in person mode: the first run downloads the AI model (a few megabytes). After that it's cached by your browser, so later photos process almost instantly. Document mode has no model to download and is always fast.

Why are the edges of my photo cutout a little soft?+

That's intentional — edges use a soft, partially-transparent blend rather than a hard cutoff, which looks more natural around hair and fine detail than a jagged binary edge would.
