Frequently asked questions
Everything about recording, editing, and downloading — free, private, and in your browser.
Is this screen recorder really free?+
Yes. Recording, editing (trim, clips, titles, annotations, emoji), and MP4 download are free with no time limit. Because your video never touches our servers, it costs us nothing to let you record as much as you want.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?+
No. Recording, editing, and export all happen inside your browser on your own device. The only time a video leaves your device is if you explicitly choose to save it to your own Google Drive or Dropbox — and that upload goes directly from your browser to your account.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?+
No installs, no extensions, no signup. Open the recorder, choose what to capture, and start. It works in Chrome and Edge out of the box; Firefox works with WebM output.
How do I record my screen with my webcam on top?+
Choose Entire Screen, Window, or Browser Tab, then pick a webcam style — circle bubble, square bubble, or side-by-side. Your camera is baked into the recording, and you can hide or show it any time while recording.
How do I make a tutorial or course video?+
Record your screen with mic narration (noise reduction is built in), then use the editor to split the recording into clips, delete mistakes, add titles and callout boxes, and export as MP4. For course platforms like Udemy, export at 1080p or 1440p.
Can I record a specific area of my screen?+
Yes — choose Selected Area, share your screen, then draw a box over the exact region you want. Only that area ends up in the recording.
What format is the download? Does it work in Windows Media Player?+
Downloads are MP4 (H.264) on Chrome and Edge, which plays everywhere — Windows Media Player, QuickTime, PowerPoint, YouTube. Firefox falls back to WebM.
Is there a recording time limit?+
No artificial limit. Your recording is limited only by your device's memory — a modern computer comfortably handles long sessions. Very long recordings (multiple hours at high resolution) may need a machine with more RAM.
Can I make YouTube Shorts, Reels, or TikTok videos from a recording?+
Yes — in export settings choose Short (9:16) and the editor produces a vertical center-cropped video ready for Shorts, Reels, or TikTok.
How do I record system audio and my voice at the same time?+
Pick 'Tab/system sound + mic' before recording. You can also choose mic-only for voiceovers (which suppresses tab audio) or system-only. A mute button is available while recording.
